Terms of Service

Welcome to KitchenSync (the "Extension"), provided by Michael Trafecanty ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the KitchenSync Chrome Extension and any related websites, emails, or services we operate (collectively, the "Services").

By installing or using the Extension, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a contract to use KitchenSync. By using the Extension, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. License & Ownership

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use KitchenSync for personal use only, subject to these Terms and Chrome Web Store policies.

All rights, title, and interest in KitchenSync and its content (including design, code, and logos) remain our exclusive property. You may not copy, modify, sell, or distribute any part of the Extension without our written permission.

3. Features & Functionality

KitchenSync helps you:

• Parse and save recipes from websites
• Create and organize grocery lists
• Track your pantry inventory and meal plans
• Receive email summaries or recommendations (optional)

Some features may change or be added over time. We reserve the right to update, modify, or discontinue any feature at any time.

4. Accounts & Subscriptions (if applicable)

If KitchenSync later includes an account or subscription system:

• You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
• Subscriptions will auto-renew unless cancelled.
• Refunds are only provided where required by law.
• We may offer both free and paid tiers with different feature access.

5. Permissions Requested

The Extension may request browser permissions such as:

• storage — to save your settings, recipes, and preferences locally
• activeTab / tabs — to read limited information about the current tab to extract recipe data when you activate the extension
• scripting — to run scripts only when you interact with the extension to collect recipe data

We only request permissions necessary to perform the described functionality.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Extension for illegal or unauthorized purposes
• Attempt to reverse engineer or modify its source code
• Interfere with its normal operation or exploit vulnerabilities
• Use automated tools to scrape or abuse our services

We may suspend or terminate access if we suspect misuse.

7. Data & Privacy

KitchenSync does not sell user data.
Certain anonymized information may be collected to improve performance (e.g., feature usage analytics, error logs).

8. Third-Party Content

KitchenSync may interact with third-party websites (like recipe blogs or grocery sites). We do not control or endorse third-party content, and you use it at your own risk. Their respective privacy policies and terms apply.

9. Updates

We may automatically update the Extension to improve functionality, security, or compatibility. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the latest version and Terms.

10. Termination

• You may uninstall KitchenSync at any time.
• We may terminate your access or remove the Extension from the Chrome Web Store if you violate these Terms or if continued operation is no longer feasible.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Extension is provided "as is" and "as available."
We make no warranties regarding its reliability, accuracy, or suitability for any purpose. You use KitchenSync at your own risk.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Extension. Our total liability shall not exceed $50 USD.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Michael Trafecanty and any affiliates, partners, or contractors from claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of KitchenSync or violation of these Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on our official Terms of Service page. Continued use of KitchenSync after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
